Miracle Building Material

It’s clearer than glass, weighs 99% less, and costs 24% to 70% less to install. Shatterproof, dirt repellent (it’s a relative of Teflon), and recyclable, it has a life of 50 years. Formed into air-filled cushions that can support a car, it insulates like triple-glazed glass. A “miracle” building material, Ethylene-Tetrafluoro Ethylene Copolymer (ETFE) is being used in some of the world’s most innovative and impressive structures, such as the “Bird’s Nest” or Beijing National Stadium, constructed for the 2008 Olympics.
